Vessel In Gulf Of Aden Hit With Unknown Projectile Resulting In Fire, Updates On Four Hostages Rescued By The Israeli Military
U.S. Central Command released a statement on the rescue operation, reporting that the humanitarian aid pier connected to Gaza was not used in the operation to rescue the four hostages.
YEMEN - A vessel in the Gulf of Aden near Aden, Yemen was hit in the aft section (the rear of the vessel) by an "unknown projectile" which resulted in an onboard fire. Damage control is underway, and there are no reports of any casualties. The vessel is proceeding to its next port of call.
Additionally, U.S. Central Command released a statement on the rescue operation, reporting that the humanitarian aid pier connected to Gaza was not used in the operation to rescue the four hostages recently rescued by the Israeli military after it carried out a large rescue operation.
A Gazan health official claimed that the rescue operation led to the death of at least 210 Palestinians, including children. It should be noted that the Gazan Health Ministry is known not to differentiate between deaths of combatants and deaths of civilians when reporting figures.
U.S. Central Command has also reported that it began the delivery of humanitarian aid assistance ashore in Gaza, with a total of around 492 metric tons (1.1 million pounds) of humanitarian aid supplies into the Strip.
CENTCOM reported, "To date, USCENTCOM has assisted in the delivery of more than 1,573 metric tons (~3.5 million pounds) of humanitarian aid. No U.S. military personnel went ashore in Gaza."
