USCENTCOM Commander Visits USS Harry S. Truman and Strengthens Ties in Middle Eastern Countries

MIDDLE EAST - On January 11th and 12th, the commander of U.S. Central Command visited the USS Harry S. Truman carrier strike group, which was operating in the Red Sea, and has been carrying out ongoing operations since it was deployed to the region on December 14th, 2024.
General Michael Erik Kurilla also visited U.S. servicemembers and conducted key leader engagements in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where they discussed shared security concerns, their mutual commitment to addressing evolving threats in the region, and the importance of joint readiness through interoperability.
The leaders discussed efforts to strengthen security cooperation and combat regional threats, such as Iranian-backed Houthis and their attacks against military and commercial vessels in the Red Sea and Bab Al Mandeb.
