US, Jordan Carry Out Aid Airdrop Into Northern Gaza, US Continues Work On Temporary Gaza Pier After Pause
COGAT also reported that the Hamas has again launched 4 mortars at Kerem Shalom humanitarian aid crossing.
GAZA - The United States and Jordan carried out a combined humanitarian aid airdrop into Northern Gaza on May 7th, 2024 according to U.S. Central Command.
The combined operation included 3 U.S. Air Force C-130 aircraft that dropped over 25,000 Meals Ready to Eat (MREs), as well as 13,000 meal equivalents of Jordanian provided food.
Central Command reported that, "To date the U.S. has dropped 1,200 tons of humanitarian assistance".
COGAT also reported, "Hamas launched 4 mortars at Kerem Shalom, the main humanitarian aid crossing into Gaza," and says that it is the second time that Hamas has actively shot at Kerem Shalom.
The Pentagon has also said that the Department of Defense is resuming its work on the temporary Gaza pier, but that construction has been relocated due to weather conditions.
The pier construction has been relocated to the Israeli Port of Ashdod, about 18 miles northeast of the Gazan border.
