US Intercepts 7 Houthi Mobile Anti-Ship Cruise Missiles, British-Owned Bulk Carrier Rubymar attacked
The missiles identified in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen presented an imminent threat to merchant vessels and to the U.S. Navy ships in the region.
YEMEN - On February 23rd, U.S. Central Command forces destroyed 7 Houthi mobile anti-ship cruise missiles preparing to launch toward the Red Sea. The interception was carried out in self-defense, according to the report by CENTCOM.
The missiles were located in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen and presented an "imminent threat" to merchant vessels and U.S. Naval vessels in the region, according to the report.
On February 18th, Houthis attacked the Belize-flagged, British-owned bulk carrier merchant vessel Rubymar.
