US Forces Destroy 5 Houthi Drones Near Yemen, UKMTO Reports Multiple Incidents In Region
One of the vessels attacked was MT Bentley I a Panama-flagged, Israel-owned, Monaco-operated tanker vessel in the Red Sea carrying vegetable oil from Russia to China and was attacked multiple times.
YEMEN - According to U.S. Central Command, In the past day, US forces destroyed five Houthi drones that posed a threat to ships and international waters. The UKMTO has reported multiple incidents around Al Hudaydah, Yemen, and Al Mukha, Yemen.
CENTCOM reported that the Houthis attacked several tankers in the Red Sea but caused no damage or injuries.
The MT Bentley I a Panama-flagged, Israel-owned, Monaco-operated tanker vessel in the Red Sea carrying vegetable oil from Russia to China was attacked multiple times by Houthi forces.
According to U.S. Central Command, the Houthis used three surface vessels in this attack, one unmanned surface vessel (USV) and two small boats. No damage or injuries have been reported at this time.
Later, Iranian-backed Houthis launched an anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM) from a Houthi-controlled area of Yemen, over the Red Sea toward MT Bentley I. No damage or injuries have been reported due to the attack at this time.
In another incident, the Houthis attacked MT Chios Lion, a Liberian-flagged, Marshall Islands-owned, Greek-operated crude oil tanker with a USV in the Red Sea.
The USV caused damage, but MT Chios Lion has not requested assistance. No injuries have been reported at this time as a result of the attack.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported attack incidents 70 nautical miles southwest of Al Hudadah, Yemen, 97 nautical miles northwest of Al Hudaydah, Yemen, and 15 nautical miles southwest of Al Mukha, Yemen.
