YEMEN/SYRIA - U.S. Forces destroyed 1 Houthi missile system in a Houthi-controlled area of Yemen which was determined to be a clear and imminent threat to U.S. and Coalition forces, as well as merchant vessels in the region.
Furthermore, U.S. forces targeted and killed a senior Al-Qaeda leader in Syria with a "kinetic strike", according to a statement by U.S. Central Command, which stated the strike targeted a leader of the Al-Qaeda aligned "Hurras al-Din" group.
According to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor Makki was Saudi Arabian and an ex-leader of the Jund al-Aqsa militant group. Local media reported that Makki was killed by two missiles that hit his motorcycle as he was riding on it.
