US F/A-18 Fighter Jet Shot Down After Friendly Fire Incident Over Red Sea
The incident occurred after the guided-missile cruiser USS Gettysburg accidentally fired on and hit the F/A-18 aircraft as it was taking off from the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier.
RED SEA - A full investigation is currently underway after a an "apparent friendly fire" incident occurred over the Red Sea early on Sunday which resulted in an F/A-18 fighter jet being shot down.
Two pilots from the U.S. Navy safely ejected from the aircraft during the incident leaving one with minor injuries, according to U.S. Central Command.
The incident occurred after the guided-missile cruiser USS Gettysburg accidentally fired on and hit the F/A-18 aircraft as it was taking off from the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier. The USS Gettysburg is a part of the Truman carrier group.
