YEMEN - U.S. forces destroyed 2 Houthi unmanned surface vessels (USVs) in the Red Sea, 1 unmanned aerial system (UAS) launched from Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen over the Red Sea, and destroyed 7 Houthi radar systems in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen.
According to U.S. Central Command, the radar systems enabled Houthi forces to target maritime vessels in the region and presented an imminent threat to U.S., coalition forces, and merchant vessels.
Additionally, One civilian mariner is still missing following a recent attack on the Liberian-flagged, Greek-owned and operated bulk cargo carrier Tutor during which the vessel was struck by a Houthi unmanned surface vessel (USV).
The attack led to severe flooding and damage to the ship's engine room and caused the vessel's crew to abandon the ship, after which they were rescued by the USS Philippine Sea (CG-58) and partner forces. The vessel remains floating in the Red Sea and is currently slowly taking on water, according to the latest report by U.S. Central Command.
The Palauan flagged, Ukrainian-owned, Polish-operated bulk cargo carrier Verbena was also hit yesterday which resulted in fires onboard the vessel, leading to one civilian mariner being medically evacuated due to severe injuries.
