U.S. Coast Guard Continues To Troubleshoot Temporary VHF-FM Radio Communication Disruption
The Coast Guard reported that the outage began on January 12th and that the disruption is an “unintended consequence of a routine and pre-planned router relocation”.
GUAM - The U.S. Coast Guard has released a statement addressing an ongoing outage affecting the Coast Guard’s VHF-FM radio communications, which it says is “integral for maritime safety”.
The Coast Guard reported that the outage began on January 12th and that the disruption is an “unintended consequence of a routine and pre-planned router relocation” in order to enhance its operational capabilities.
“This outage does not impact the effectiveness of Search And Rescue Satellite Aided Tracking alerts from 406 MHz beacons, HF communications, or phone services” The Coast Guard statement said.
