Central Command determined they presented an imminent threat to merchant vessels and to the U.S. Navy ships in the region.
RED SEA - U.S. Central Command reported carrying out strikes against 4 drones and 2 cruise missiles preparing to launch toward the Red Sea from Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen on February 22nd, and shot down three one-way attack drones on February 23rd near commercial vessels operating in the Red Sea.
Central Command identified the UAVs and ASCMs and determined they presented an imminent threat to merchant vessels and to the U.S. Navy ships in the region.
