US Carries Out Precision Strike On Al-Qaeda Leader in Syria, Bolsters Regional Alliances

MIDDLE EAST - On February 23rd, 2025, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces executed a precision airstrike in Northwest Syria, successfully targeting and eliminating Muhammed Yusuf Ziya Talay, the senior military leader of Hurras al-Din (HaD), an Al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist organization, according to U.S. Central Command.
In addition to counterterrorism operations, CENTCOM continues to strengthen regional partnerships and maintain military readiness across its area of responsibility. Recently, U.S. Navy and Royal New Zealand Navy dive team members conducted joint cast and recovery drills, enhancing interoperability in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, U.S. Army and Air Force Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTACs) coordinated precision strikes from two B-52H Stratofortress bombers at a range in the region, showcasing the command’s capability to integrate air and ground forces effectively.
