US Carries Out Dozens Of Airstrikes In Syria. Russia: Assad In Moscow, Has Been Given Asylum
Russia is blaming the fall of the Syrian capital on the United States, with Russian state-run news claiming that it shows "The West’s willingness to use any means to achieve its strategic objectives".
MIDDLE EAST/EUROPE - U.S. forces have executed numerous precision airstrikes in Central Syria, targeting ISIS camps and operatives in its continuing mission to disrupt, degrade, and defeat the ISIS terrorist organization and ensure it does not take advantage of the current crisis in the country to "reconstitute" its forces in the region.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin, cited by Russian state media, said Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his family has sought refuge in Moscow, granted asylum after opposition forces, along with the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) seized control of the Syrian capital, Damascus and released numerous prisoners that were being held in Syrian detention facilities, including the largest detention center in the country, the Saydnaya military prison located outside Damascus.
US Strikes On ISIS In Syria
U.S. Central Command reported that it carried out strikes on over 75 targets using multiple U.S. Air Force assets, including B-52 bombers, F-15 fighter jets, and Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II subsonic "warthog" attack aircraft.
"The strikes against the ISIS leaders, operatives, and camps were conducted as part of the ongoing mission to disrupt, degrade, and defeat ISIS, in order to prevent the terrorist group from conducting external operations and to ensure that ISIS does not seek to take advantage of the current situation to reconstitute in central Syria," the statement read.
