SYRIA/YEMEN - U.S. forces have carried out airstrikes against ISIS operatives in Syria, and a key Houthi command and control facility in Yemen's capital Sana'a. The strikes in Syria targeted positions that were previously held by Syrian state and Russian forces.
The strikes in Syria against ISIS leaders, operatives, and camps "were conducted as part of the ongoing mission to disrupt, degrade, and defeat ISIS, preventing the terrorist group from conducting external operations and to ensure that ISIS does not seek opportunities to reconstitute in central Syria," according to U.S. Central Command.
The targeted facility in Yemen's capital, "was a hub for coordinating Houthi operations, such as attacks against U.S. Navy warships and merchant vessels in the Southern Red Sea and Gulf of Aden."
