US Accelerates USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group Transit, Deploys Missile Submarine To Middle East In Response To Increased Regional Tensions
In addition to the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Group, the Ohio-class guided-missile submarine USS Georgia (SSGN 729) has been ordered to the Central Command area of responsibility.
MIDDLE EAST - According to the U.S. Secretary of Defense, the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group has accelerated its transit to the Middle East, equipped with F-35C fighter jets, which it says will be adding to the capabilities provided by the USS Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group already in the region.
In addition, Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin said, the Ohio-class guided-missile submarine USS Georgia (SSGN 729) has been ordered to the Central Command area of responsibility (Middle East region).
Austin said that the increase in U.S. military force posture and capabilities throughout the Middle East is in response for escalating regional tensions.
