SOMALIA —From late March to mid-April 2025, a series of coordinated operations by U.S. forces, the Somali National Army (SNA), and the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) targeted ISIS-Somalia, Al-Shabaab, and Kharijite factions, including Al-Kowthar, across Somalia.
On April 11, 2025, U.S. Africa Command executed an airstrike southeast of Bosasso, eliminating one ISIS-Somalia terrorist.
On April 10, 2025, SNA and local forces seized a significant weapons cache from Al-Shabaab in Hiiraan and cleared militants from Middle Shabelle.
Meanwhile, NISA’s intelligence-led operations between March 29 and April 5 resulted in the arrest of 36 suspects and the elimination of 20 Al-Kowthar members, disrupting planned attacks in Shabelle and other regions.
These efforts reflect a multi-pronged strategy combining precision strikes, ground operations, and intelligence actions to degrade terrorist capabilities in Somalia’s complex security environment.
