SOHR: Israel Shot Down Iranian Drone In Syria, Israel Carries Out "Dialed Back" Offensive On Rafah
Israeli media reported that the military carried out a “larger but dialed back” operation in eastern Rafah so as not to jeopardize future hostage deal talks with the Hamas.
SYRIA - The UK-based Syrian Observatory For Human Rights (SOHR) reported on May 8th that Israeli anti-aircraft systems shot down an Iranian drone “near Nawa City western of Daraa” and said that it’s believed to have been launched from outside of Syria and on its way toward the Golan Heights in Northern Israel.
It also reported: “Since the beginning of 2024, SOHR has documented 37 Israeli attacks on the Syrian territory: 25 airstrikes and 12 rocket attacks by ground forces. Those attacks destroyed nearly 74 targets, including weapons and ammunitions warehouses, headquarters, centres and vehicles. The Israeli attacks left 130 combatants dead and 53 others injured”.
Reports On Operations In Rafah And Throughout Gaza
IDF Spokesman Daniel Hagari: “IDF forces under the leadership of Division 162 began tonight with the intelligence guidance of the Shin Bet and Amman in targeted activity and in limited areas in East Rafah against terrorist infrastructures of the terrorist organization Hamas”.
Hagari: “IDF forces are now attacking and operating against the targets of the terrorist organization Hamas in a targeted manner in Mizrah Rafah. More details to come”.
