North Korea Carries Out "Successful" Ground Engine Test For New-Type Hypersonic Missile, Artillery Live-Firing Drill

PYONGYANG - North Korea has reported that it carried out a successful "ground jet test" of a solid-fuel engine for a new-type intermediate-range hypersonic missile, and one day prior carried out an artillery live-fire drill in the "Western area" with 600mm multiple rocket launchers.
"The DPRK Missile Administration and its affiliated engine institute conducted the ground jet test of multi-stage solid-fuel engine for intermediate-range hypersonic missile at the Sohae Satellite Launching Ground on Tuesday morning and afternoon according to the schedule of development of new-type weapon system," North Korean state media said.
The statement added that the North Korean leader guided the test along with leading officials of the country's missile development sector, "Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, guided the test on the spot together with leading officials of the missile development sector".
"A timetable for completing the development of new-type intermediate-range hypersonic missile weapon system was set through the great success in the important test," the statement added.
