NORAD detects and tracks Russian aircraft operating in Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone
NORAD said that the Russian aircraft during the incursion into the Alaskan ADIZ on Tuesday did not enter into Alaskan or Canadian airspace.
NORAD - After the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) detected and tracked four Russian military aircraft operating in the Alaskan Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ), NORAD congratulated the Alaskan team for "operational excellence" during the incursion on Tuesday.
A statement by NORAD said, "Outstanding work by the Alaskan NORAD team for their operational excellence during Tuesday’s Russian ADIZ incursion. Complex mission, great discipline! (Imagery is from previous NORAD operations".
NORAD said that the Russian aircraft during the incursion into the Alaskan ADIZ on Tuesday did not enter into Alaskan or Canadian airspace, adding that the activity occurs regularly and is "not seen as a threat".
