Multiple Explosions Reported At US Military Facility In Baghdad, Iraq

BAGHDAD - Iraqi officials have reported an explosion at a U.S. military facility in Baghdad, Iraq just one day before a planned visit by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

The explosions were heard at 11 p.m. at the airport in an area used by the U.S.-led international coalition, according to Iraq's security media cell (ISMC).
The ISMC said that they were not able to determine the "type or causes of the explosion, and no party has claimed responsibility for it", and said that the incident is under investigation.
An Iraqi airport security official said he heard the sound of "two strong strikes".
Kataib Hezbollah spokesperson Jaafar al-Husseini said the airport attack was “carried out by suspicious hands, and its aim is to disrupt the Iranian president’s visit to Baghdad.”
No casualties have been reported as a result of the incident. This report will be updated when more information on the incident is released.
