US/EUROPE - The Joint Staff has acknowledged that there has been drone sightings over two military installations in New Jersey, but that such sightings are “typical”. Additionally, the U.S. Air Force says drones were spotted over the U.S. Air Base located in Ramstein, Germany earlier in December.
Regarding the drone sightings over the air base in Germany, the U.S. Air Force said on Friday that there were no impacts to base residents, facilities, or assets, adding “In concert with host nation authorities, we continue to monitor the airspace to ensure safety and security of the community”.
Although German authorities have not been able to trace the drones to their operators, they do not believe the drones were being operated by amateurs.
