Tokyo - Japan has reported the presence of Russian and Chinese naval forces maneuvering near its islands, highlighting the appearance of a Russian Kilo-class submarine in the region for the first time.
Japanese Ministry of Defense: "On December 3, it was confirmed that two Russian Navy Ingle-class rescue vessels and a Kilo-class submarine proceeded northeast through the waters between Yonaguni Island and Iriomote Island, heading toward the East China Sea."
