Israel Preparing For Escalation With Iran, Hezbollah. Iran Posts New NOTAM Alert
Israeli Defense Minister: "Our enemies from Iran and Hezbollah are threatening to harm us in ways they haven't attempted before".
IRAN/ISRAEL/LEBANON - Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said on Sunday that Israel is preparing for escalation with Iran and Hezbollah: "Our enemies from Iran and Hezbollah are threatening to harm us in ways they haven't attempted before, but those who try will face a response from us like never before”.
Iran cited the leader of the Houthi terrorist organization on August 8th saying that the response against Israel is “inevitable” and that the delay in its response is a “tactical issue”:
A new Notice To Airmen (NOTAM) was issued today by Iran which warned pilots to avoid airspace near the Iranian Nojeh air base in Hamadan from 04:30 to 14:30 UTC from August 11th to August 14th, 2024 due to scheduled gunfire from the ground up to 10,000 feet above sea level. The same base was used in 2016 to allow Russian soldiers to carry out air operations in Syria using the base.
Although Iran only said that military exercises would be held within its territory and did not specify more than that, Reuters reported Friday that the country is allowing the training of dozens of Russian soldiers within Iran to use the Fath-360 close-range ballistic missile system.
Gallant also said, “We have significant capabilities, and I hope they will reconsider and not trigger a war on additional fronts. I hope they will carefully consider their actions and avoid causing us to do things that would lead to significant harm and increase the likelihood of a war breaking out on additional fronts. These are things we do not want, but we must be prepared for them as they could happen."
British Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office "continues to advise against all travel to Lebanon".
UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs David Lammy: "Further escalation in the Middle East is in no one’s interests. The UK continues to use all diplomatic levers to push for de-escalation. Our message to British nationals in Lebanon is clear – leave now".
