Israel Issues Evacuation Order, Carries Out Military Operation In Khan Younis, Rafah

GAZA - According to the Israeli military, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out ground operations within Khan Younis, located in southern Gaza on Wednesday after issuing an evacuation order for the area.

Additionally, on Wednesday the Israeli military carried out raids within Gaza’s southernmost city Rafah as it carried out numerous airstrikes throughout the Gaza Strip. The Israeli Air Force also conducted airstrikes in southern Lebanon in response to rocket attacks toward Israel.
The current number of deaths being reported by the Hamas-run Gazan Health Ministry stands at 39,145. It should be noted, however, that the Gazan Health Ministry does not differentiate between the deaths of combatants and civilians.
Furthermore, in October of 2023 U.S. President Joe Biden said that he had “no confidence” in how the Hamas-controlled Ministry of Health calculate the death toll numbers, but did not expound upon why he believed the numbers are unreliable.
In April of this year, the Gazan Health Ministry admitted that the numbers it had released of casualties were “flawed” after having said previously that it’s numbers were based on “reliable media sources”.
Stephane Dujarric, spokesperson for U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres spoke to reporters and said that the time between the issued evacuation orders and attacks on the cities is too short, and added, “Each evacuation order profoundly disrupts people's lives. People have been forced to move into areas with little or no infrastructure – where there is very limited access to shelter, health, sanitation or other life-saving humanitarian assistance”.
Israel declared war on the Hamas terrorist organization on October 7th, 2023 shortly after its members infiltrated Israel and took around 250 people hostage, 120 of which are still being held in Gaza by the organization, with a third of them believed to be dead, according to Israeli officials.
