While Yemen's Houthi-backed forces asserted they launched a hypersonic missile at the Orot Rabin power station in Haifa, the Israeli military did not mention the missile was hypersonic.
ISRAEL/YEMEN - Following Israel's report of intercepting a ballistic missile launched from Yemen before it entered Israeli airspace, the Houthi-backed Yemen military issued a statement claiming responsibility for launching a "Palestine 2 hypersonic ballistic missile" targeting Haifa, Israel, and asserted that the missile successfully hit its target.
While Yemen's Houthi-backed forces asserted they launched a hypersonic missile at the Orot Rabin power station in Haifa, the Israeli military said that the intercepted missile was ballistic, and did not say that it was hypersonic, adding that the missile was neutralized before it entered Israeli territory.
The statement released by the Israeli military said, "Initial report - Sirens sounded in Talmei Elazar. The details are under review. Following the sirens that sounded a short while ago in Talmei Elazar, a missile launched from Yemen was intercepted prior to crossing into Israeli territory. Sirens were sounded in accordance with protocol."
