ISIS Activity In Iraq Increases Significantly, Fighters Equipping Military Uniforms
On February 10th, Iraqi Security Forces (ISF), enabled by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces, conducted precision airstrikes in the vicinity of Kirkuk, Iraq, killing two ISIS operatives.
KIRKUK, IRAQ - Activity by ISIS terrorists has increased significantly in Iraq as the United States enables Iraqi forces to carry out additional precision airstrikes in the vicinity of Kurkuk, killing two operatives of the organization.
According to the Iraqi military, there has been a significant increase in ISIS activity in Kirkuk and Salahaddin, with fighters donning military uniforms and utilizing advanced weaponry. The areas are currently under ISIS control, with the Iraqi military conducting occasional airstrikes on ISIL targets.
On Monday evening, Iraqi aircraft bombed Gharaw near the Khurmatu district of the province of Salahaddin and killed several ISIS fighters.
On February 8th, the Iraqi Joint Operations Command reported that an airstrike on an ISIS hideout near Zargay in the Khurmatu district resulted in the deaths of seven ISIS fighters, including Abu Saeed al-Dindosi, the governor of Kirkuk.
Former coordinator of relations between the Peshmerga and Hashd Shaabi in southern Kirkuk, Nazim Kahiya, stated that the number of ISIS fighters has significantly increased and that they have established hideouts in Arab villages.
Iraqi security and military agencies are actively monitoring the organization's locations and movements.
They have implemented strict security measures around the border areas between Iraq and Syria, known as hotspots for smuggling and infiltration operations by terrorist organizations.
