Houthis Launch 2 Drones Toward Red Sea, US Destroys 1 UAV, 5 Unmanned Surface Vessels In Yemen
US forces carried out self-defense strikes in Yemen destroying five unmanned surface vessels (USVs) that presented an imminent threat to merchant vessels and U.S. Navy ships in the region.
YEMEN - According to U.S. Central Command Iranian-backed Houthis launched two unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV Drones) from Yemen towards the Red Sea. One of the drones was destroyed by US forces, while the other was presumed to have crashed into the Red Sea.
US forces went into Houthi-controlled parts of Yemen and carried out self-defense strikes destroying five unmanned surface vessels (USVs) that presented an imminent threat to merchant vessels and U.S. Navy ships in the region.
Incident reports by the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) stated that a merchant vessel in the region reported an explosion in close proximity of the vessel, but that there was no damage to the ship itself, adding that the crew are safe and the vessel is proceeding to its next port of call.
