German Officials: Russia May Attack NATO By 2030 Forcing It To Invoke Article 5 Which Would Lead To Nuclear War
German Federal Intelligence Service President Bruno Kahl: Whether We Like It Or Not, We Are In A Direct Conflict With Russia.
BERLIN - After making a statement in October saying that Russia may attack NATO by 2030 "at the latest" and that Germany is in direct conflict with Russia, German Federal Intelligence Service President Bruno Kahl has now reiterated his warning, adding that the alliance may be forced to invoke Article 5 in response to an attack by Moscow.
During an event at the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) think tank in Berlin, Germany Kahl said, "The increasing ramp-up of the Russian military means a direct military confrontation with NATO becomes one possible option for the Kremlin."
Putin will "test red lines of the West and further escalate the confrontation," Kahl said, and also added, "In terms of personnel and material, Russian armed forces are likely to be capable of carrying out an attack against NATO by the end of the decade at the latest," Kahl stated.
