CENTCOM Commander Visits Syria As US Carries Out Anti-ISIS Operations, Israel Increases Its "Buffer Zone" With The Country
As the situation crumbled in Syria, Israel began taking advantage of the political upheaval to create an enlarged "buffer zone", also called an "Alpha Line".
SYRIA - The Commander of U.S. Central Command visited military commanders and service members, along with Defeat-ISIS partners (the Syrian Democratic Forces, or SDF) at several bases located n Syria and received assessments of force protection measures, updates on the rapidly evolving situation in the country, and ongoing efforts to prevent the ISIS terrorist organization from exploiting the situation [to further gain a foothold in the country].
According to U.S. Central Command, "The leaders discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation and regional security, the rapidly changing situation in Syria, as well as the defeat-ISIS operations in Iraq. The leaders also discussed the continued partnership between Coalition and Iraqi forces".
