Black Hawk Helicopter Crashes Into 64-Person American Airlines Passenger Plane Leaving No Survivors

WASHINGTON DC - A Black Hawk helicopter has crashed into an American Airlines passenger plane carrying 60 passengers and four crew members near the Reagan National Airport outside of Washington, DC as it was approaching the runway.
After search and rescue efforts in the Potomac River, it has been announced that there were no survivors, according to a report by the New York Times citing officials.
D.C. Councilmember Brooke Pinto said, "Tonight a helicopter crashed into a 60-person passenger plane mid-air causing it to go into the Potomac. Search and rescue, MPD, and FEMS are out there now. MPD helicopter is not involved in the crash."
American Airlines released a statement that said, "We’re aware of reports that American Eagle flight 5342, operated by PSA, with service from Wichita, Kansas (ICT) to Washington Reagan National Airport (DCA) has been involved in an incident. We will provide information as it becomes available."
DC Police Department: "MPD is responding to an apparent air crash in the Potomac River. Multiple agencies are responding. Details to come. MPD’s helicopter is NOT involved in this incident and is currently assisting in the multi-agency response.
