Belgorod Governor Declares Regional State Of Emergency After Ukraine Invasion, Russian Railway Facing "Transport Collapse"
The Governor of Belgorod Vyacheslav Gladkov: State of emergency declared on a regional level as Ukraine advances within Russian territory
MOSCOW - Due to the current invasion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on regions located within Russia, namely the Kursk region, the Moscow Times reports that Russian railways have faced a "transport collapse" in regions bordering Ukraine.
The paper cites the Community of Railway Workers of Belarus (SZB) as saying that Russian railways have stopped accepting trains from Belarus "in the direction of Kursk and Smolensk regions".
The reason for the decision made by Russian Railways was due to the overcrowding of stations, the paper went on to say, adding that abandoned trains and lack of locomotives and drivers to remove them were also factors.
