DUBAI, UAE - A ballistic missile was fired from Iranian-backed Houthi-controlled territory in Yemen, hitting a Liberian-flagged cargo vessel in the Red Sea on Friday. The incident occurred near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

YEMEN/SOMALIA - Latest UKMTO reports state that there was a distress call heard over VHF of a vessel being boarded 700 nautical miles east of Bossaso Somalia on December 14th. On December 15th there was also a report of an incident near Yemen. On December 15th there was an incident 60 nautical miles southwest of Hodeidah, Yemen. UKMTO stated that authorities are investigating the incident. Vessels are advised to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity.

YEMEN/BAB EL MANDEB - The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has reported an incident around the Bab El Mandeb in the Middle East where an entity declaring itself to be the Yemeni Navy ordered a vessel to change its course to Yemen. The UKMTO has advised caution and to report any suspicious activity in the region, and says that authorities are investigating the incident.
