Al-Shabaab: “Special Operation” Took Place In The Middle Of The Day, Targeted A Presidential Convoy.
MOGADISHU - The Al-Shabaab militant group has claimed responsibility for an attack in Mogadishu on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, which they allege targeted President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, whom they refer to as "Hassan Gurgurte." Update: The Somalian government has confirmed the attack took place.
The statement, issued by the group's military wing, Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen, through the Youth Mujahideen Movement and attributed to the Armed Forces Command, Taliska Ciidanka, claims the operation took place as the president’s convoy was moving from the presidential palace to the airport.
